Program Description:
Job Description: Digital Communications Assistant
Department: Division of Global Engagement Marketing & Communications
Position: Part-time
Pay: $12.25 per hour
Year: 2020 – 2021
  
Position Summary: This position directly reports to the Marketing and Communications team in the Global Education Oregon (GEO) unit within the Division of Global Engagement (DGE). The DCA will be responsible for strategic digital outreach and social media platforms for the GEO study abroad office. They will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team, study abroad advisors, program coordinators, and occasionally will work with the International Peer Assistants (IPA’s).
 
Eligibility: Work study students are encouraged to apply. Undergraduate students must be enrolled for a minimum of 8 credit hours for the 2020-2021 academic year. Graduate students must be enrolled for a minimum of 5 graduate credit hours.
 
Preferred Majors: Advertising, Cinema Studies, Digital Arts, International Studies, Journalism, Marketing, Media Studies, Multimedia, or Public Relations. All other majors are welcome to apply.
 
Description of Duties:
  • Report to the Marketing and Communications team
  • Meet with the Marketing and Communications team weekly to discuss new creative ideas
  • Collaborate with Uoregon Instagram colleagues monthly
  • Monitor, promote, engage, and create content for social media platforms using Buffer (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube)
  • Strategically analyze and monitor data analytics
  • Implement and monitor photo and video contests
  • Photograph and record content for promotional material (website and social media)
  • Document GEO at select campus events and activities
  • Support the DGE Marketing and Communications team with various related projects
  • Additional duties as assigned 
Required Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with social media platforms for professional use and analytic tracking (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube)
  • Microsoft Office skills, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with graphic design and/or video editing
  • High degree of initiative, self-direction, and time management
  • Highly developed organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with GEO study abroad programs
  • Experience with online marketing tools such as; Buffer, Hootsuite, Mailchimp or CRM system
  • Competency with Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Familiarity with website development
  • Interest and/or experience in communications, public relations, and marketing
